The New England Caravan arrived around 4:30 p.m. in the Somerset,
NJ area. There are about 25 Vettes in the lot as Jim and I arrive
to set up for the Welcome Reception. What a surprise - Chip & Dale
(Janyce & Dave) are here to help us get thing rolling. One
by one the NGCA caravaners arrive as well as those from Mike Walsh’s
club to get the reception started. The Hampton Somerset has given
us a nice meeting room to use for this purpose. We’ve hung
the caravan banners around the room and Mike Walsh has posters
acknowledging the sponsorship of a local Goodyear dealer, Royal
Chevrolet, and Flemington Chevrolet for the kick-off. He has purchased
several cheese and fruit platters for our guests to nibble on.
As the evening goes on we check-in the New England participants,
have them sign the banners, and give them their official handbook
and first dash plaque. We noticed the sign by the door to this
room says occupancy by more than 45 persons is prohibited. Oops!
We figure there were at least 70!!!!!!
All the guests have gone up to bed - and we’re sitting down
here munching on pizza that we had delivered. We’re in a
bit of a giggle-fest - no big surprise there! Everyone is nervous
and excited about tomorrow morning. Chip & Dale are going to
come back to help us check-in more participants and see us off!!!
...time to get to bed...
